Medical disclaimer
MedGrasp is for learning medicine. It is not medical advice, and it cannot help in an emergency.
NoteDraft for review
This page is a draft. It was written to say exactly what the site does today, for the owner and a lawyer to review before launch. It is not legal advice.
To be completed before launch: the business name, the registered address, the governing law, the contact email address.
What MedGrasp is for
MedGrasp is educational content for medical students and for doctors in training and in practice. It is written to help you understand medicine and to revise it.
It is not medical advice
- It is not written for patients, and nothing on it is advice about your own health or anyone else’s.
- Reading it does not create a doctor and patient relationship between you and MedGrasp or the people who run it.
- It does not diagnose, and it does not choose or recommend treatment for any person.
It does not replace your own judgement or your seniors
MedGrasp is not a substitute for any of these:
- your own clinical judgement, and the examination and history of the patient in front of you;
- supervision and advice from a senior colleague or your teachers;
- the guidelines and protocols used where you work;
- your local drug formulary.
Check every dose against your local formulary before you use it. Brands, strengths, licensed uses and availability differ from place to place.
Guidance differs between regions
Recommendations are not the same everywhere. A topic names the source it follows, and says where guidance differs between regions, for example between the World Health Organization, the United Kingdom, the United States and East African national guidelines. A topic can follow only some of them. Work out which guideline applies where you are.
It can be wrong or out of date
Every topic shows the date it was last verified and how it was checked, and the checking is described on How we verify. Even so, a topic may contain a mistake or may be overtaken by new evidence or a new guideline. If you find an error, please tell us (see Contact and Copyright and takedown). Your report is how errors get fixed.
In an emergency
MedGrasp cannot help in an emergency and does not monitor messages. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number now. If you are a patient and you are worried about your health, speak to a doctor or another health professional.
No promise about exams
Reading MedGrasp does not guarantee that you will pass an exam or be competent at a task.
