Copyright and takedown
How to tell us about a mistake, or about something that should not be on MedGrasp.
NoteDraft for review
This page is a draft. It was written to say exactly what the site does today, for the owner and a lawyer to review before launch. It is not legal advice.
To be completed before launch: the business name, the registered address, the governing law, the contact email address.
Where the words and pictures come from
Every sentence on MedGrasp is newly written, from named sources, and an automated check compares the text with those sources to catch copied wording. Figures are drawn for MedGrasp or used under a licence that allows it, and each one is credited under the figure and on the figure credits page. See also the editorial policy.
How to send a report
NoteNo address yet
MedGrasp has no public email address or form for reports yet, so there is nowhere to send one from this site today. When one exists, it will be shown here and on the contact page, and this page will say so.
To report a mistake in a topic
Tell us:
- the address (URL) of the topic and, if you can, the section;
- what is wrong, and what you think is right;
- a source for it, if you have one (a guideline, an article, a drug reference).
A report about a medical error is read by a person and checked against sources. If it is right, the topic is corrected and checked again before its “Last verified” date is changed.
To report something that infringes a right
If you own the copyright or another right in something on MedGrasp and believe it is used without permission, include in your report:
- your name and a way to contact you;
- what the work is (a title, or a link to where it was published);
- where it appears on MedGrasp: the address of the page and which text or figure;
- that you own the right, or are allowed to act for the person who does;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not allowed by the owner, the law, or a licence;
- a statement that the information in your report is accurate;
- your signature (typing your full name is enough).
If you are in the United States, a notice that meets these points is the kind of notice the Digital Millennium Copyright Act asks for. Wherever you are, the same details let us deal with your report quickly.
What we do
- A person reads each report.
- If a figure or passage is shown to be used without a right to use it, it is taken down or replaced, and the figure credits page is corrected.
- If the report is mistaken, we say why. If it is unclear, we ask you for more.
- We may pass your report, and your reply, to the person responsible for the material, so that they can respond.
False reports
Please send a report only if it is true. A report made in bad faith to have lawful material removed can have legal consequences for the person who made it.
